It
was 5 PM and still, there was an hour for the booth to be closed, when Veena
madam approached me,
“Ajay,
I have to leave now. My in-laws are picking me up, so can you park my scooter
till the office? You and Divya can go on the scooter till office, right?”
“Sure
ma’am” I replied.
“I
hope Divya is comfortable with you, “Veena madam smiled and handed over the key
to me.
I
didn’t get the motto behind her smile but was happy that I would be riding a
scooter on the roads of Chennai.
“Has
ma’am left?” Divya asked when all the students had deserted the booths.
“Yes,”
I said, “And she has given me a big responsibility.”
“I
didn’t get it. Can you be clearer, Mr. Ajay?”
“She
has asked me to drop you on her scooter and then park her scooter at the office,” I
replied showing her the key.
“Thanks.
But I can take a bus to Ayanavaram from here.” Divya replied.
“Huh!
So, you are still angry with me?”
“No.
Had I been angry, I would have complained it to ma’am.”
“Then?”
“Chumma,”
Divya replied, “I mean nothing.”
“I
know what Chumma means. But that day you resisted my Chumma” I quipped.
“Shut
up Ajay. Do you even know what that means?” Divya lamented, “I am not that type
of girl.”
“Which
type of girl?”
“The
ones you like, like that Sangeetha.” Her thrust on Sangeetha seemed full of
jealousy.
“Oh,
so you are upset because I like Sangeetha.” I asked sarcastically.
“Why
shall I be upset? You do whatever you want to do with her.”
“But
I want to do everything with you and not her,” I spoke my mind.
“What?
What did you just say?”
“Chumma,
I mean Nothing. Let’s pack up” I said and coerced Divya to come with me on
scooter.
“Do
you behave like this with every girl, Ajay?” Divya asked while riding with me on
the scooter.
“What
do you mean?”
“You
know what I mean.”
“You
mean to say that I am a flirt, right?”
“No.
But then do you try to kiss every girl like you did with me?”
“Divya,
I don’t know what made me do that, but I can’t control my emotions when I see
you.”
“Oh!
But then your emotions can overflow even for Sangeetha?”
“Fuck
that Sangeetha!” I bellowed, “I hardly know her yaar, but with you, it’s
different.”
“Oh
really?”
“Yeah.
You won’t understand. Kuch Kuch hota hai Divya, tum nahi samjhogi.” I
imitated Shahrukh Khan.
“You
are irresistible Ajay.” Divya admitted as we reached office.
“Shall
I drop you home?” I asked.
“Why?
I mean, ma’am has asked you to park her scooter at the office, right?”
“Yeah,
she asked me to do so, but…I can always take some liberty to drive my
sweetheart home,” I tried to be romantic.
“Are
you okay, Ajay ji?” Divya asked and I couldn’t control my emotions,
“I
love you, Divya” I confessed, “And I really mean it.”
“And
how many days will this love last for me?”
“Forever.
I mean, I love you forever.”
“I
don’t know what to say Ajay, I really like you, you make me feel special, but I
am still not sure if this is love” Divya looked hesitant.
“You
take your time. There is no hurry, it will take twenty minutes to reach
Ayanavaram.” I quipped.
“You
are too much, Ajay,” Divya said and hugged me from behind, as I dropped her
home.
“Just
drop me here.” Divya signalled me to stop the scooter 100 meters away from her
house.
“Thanks
for the ride. It was wonderful.”
“My
pleasure sweetheart,” I responded, “You can be even more candid.”
“Hmmm.
Love you.” Divya confessed finally and disappeared from my sight. However, I
couldn’t forget her smile while riding the scooter till Nungambakkam.
